September 2016
Dear Families,
Our first week of school has been a great success! We are working hard to settle in and establish a routine. I wanted to send a quick, informational letter to explain a few of the “ins and outs” of school this year.
Our Curriculum
As you know, we will be spending a lot of time outside doing different activities. Please be sure that your child has comfortable shoes every day. I understand that some of the girls want to wear dresses, not a problem! Just make sure your child has sneakers and socks packed in the backpack. Our classroom does community based learning on Wednesdays beginning late September. Additional information on those community experiences will be going home soon.
Specials:
The following is a schedule of Grade 4 specials. On the day that we have gym, please make sure that your child is appropriately dressed (especially sneakers) so that they can participate in all of the activities. In the winter they should always bring snow gear!
We have a snack time every day around 9:30am. The school will again be offering fresh fruits and veggies on Mon., Tues., Thurs. and Fri. of each week. Please send your child with a snack each Wednesday.
Bus Notes & Dropping off/ Picking up your child:
If you write a bus note for your child to ride the bus to some place different, please write the physical address. This is information we need to put on the bus note for the driver. This will also ensure that your child gets to that destination without any troubles.
It is very important that if you or someone else is picking up your child that a note is sent in to school. With such a large number of students this would help the office staff greatly. Please limit phone calls about pick-ups to emergencies only. Also, our lessons start at 7:50 and will go until 2:15 p.m. It is very important that students are involved in these lessons and because so much of our work is hands-on, they are often difficult to make up (When possible, please plan appointments accordingly).
Questions/Concerns:
If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact any of the Village teachers. We can be reached at 562-4207 before and after school. You can also email us at any time. Our email addresses are: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected] We look forward to seeing you at the Open House on September 7th!
Warm Wishes,
Mr. Tacheny, Mrs. Arsenault, Mrs. Johnston, and Ms. Poulin
